Our Process: From SEEPZ to Your Doorbox

From SEEPZ to Your Doorbox.
No Middlemen.

Every StudsDirect piece traces a single, unbroken line from one of the world's most tightly regulated diamond manufacturing zones to your hands — inspected by the founder before it ships.

Our founder — 20 years in the diamond manufacturing industry, direct sourcing from Mumbai SEEPZ
1

Sourcing — Direct from Mumbai SEEPZ

SEEPZ (Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone) in Mumbai is not a marketing story — it's a bonded export zone under continuous customs supervision, accounting for roughly 60% of India's gem and jewellery exports. Manufacturers inside SEEPZ can't sell domestically; they produce exclusively for international buyers.

Most retailers buy from distributors who buy from SEEPZ manufacturers. We cut that out entirely. Our founder has spent 20 years building direct relationships with the manufacturers inside the zone — the same facilities that supply the brands charging you five times more for the name on the box.

  • Direct manufacturer accounts — no wholesaler markup
  • Government-regulated facility standards and export controls
  • Same stones, same craftsmanship — without the retail premium

Cutting & Polishing — Handset, Hand-Polished, VVS+ Standard

Every stone is cut and polished by hand. Not laser-cut from a template — handset by craftspeople whose primary job is precision, not throughput.

Our minimum clarity standard is VVS+. Here's what that actually means: at 10× magnification (the standard used by gemologists), inclusions in a VVS stone are extremely difficult to find. At the naked eye — the only magnification that matters when you're wearing it — they're invisible. You're not paying for a clarity grade most people can't see under a loupe. You're paying for a stone that is flawless to any reasonable human standard.

  • Hand-polished finish — no machine-grind surface artifacts
  • VVS+ clarity minimum — exceeds the VS standard common in mass-market lab diamonds
  • F+ color grade — the near-colorless tier, visually white in any setting

Setting — 14K Solid Gold. Not Plated. Not Vermeil.

This distinction matters more than most people realize. Gold-plated jewelry has a thin electroplated layer over a base metal (often brass or copper). Vermeil is plated over sterling silver — better, but still a coating. Both wear off. The base metal underneath is exposed within months to years, depending on wear.

All StudsDirect pieces are set in 14K solid gold — the same material throughout, from surface to core. 14K (58.3% pure gold) is the industry standard for fine jewelry because it's durable enough for daily wear while retaining the warmth and luster of gold. It doesn't wear off because there's nothing to wear off.

  • 14K solid gold throughout — 58.3% pure gold alloy
  • No plating, no fill, no vermeil — verified at the manufacturing stage
  • 18″ solid 14K chain included on all pendants

IGI Certification — Every Stone, Independently Graded

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) is one of two globally recognized independent grading laboratories for lab-grown diamonds (alongside GIA). Every StudsDirect stone is submitted to IGI before setting — graded by a third party with no financial interest in your purchase decision.

What your IGI certificate covers: Shape & cutting style · Measurements · Carat weight · Color grade · Clarity grade · Cut grade · Polish · Symmetry · Fluorescence · Lab-grown origin confirmation

The certificate travels with the piece. If you ever resell, insure, or appraise your jewelry, the IGI grading report is the document that matters. Earring sets receive two separate certificates — one per stone — because matched pairs can drift in grading and we want you to know exactly what you have.

Founder QC — our founder Inspects Every Order Before It Ships

This is the unboxing promise: before your order leaves our hands, our founder reviews it personally. Not a warehouse picker. Not a third-party fulfillment center. The founder.

At the volume we operate — direct-to-consumer, not retail — this is possible and it matters. Our founder is checking the setting, the finish, the certificate match, and the packaging. If something doesn't meet the standard he's spent 20 years developing, it doesn't ship. You get a call, not a disappointment.

Most jewelry brands have never seen the orders they ship. We've seen every one.

Why We Can Sell at This Price

The question we get asked most: "If it's this good, why does it cost half of what Tiffany charges?"

Two reasons, and neither involves cutting corners on quality.

Direct sourcing. The jewelry retail markup exists to pay for brand-building, boutique real estate, sales staff, and distribution layers. We buy from the manufacturer. The margin that feeds those layers is what you're not paying.

Direct-to-consumer. No retail stores, no wholesale accounts, no multi-tier distribution. When you order from StudsDirect, there is one link in the chain between the manufacturing facility and your door.

The diamonds are the same material as diamonds in any fine jewelry store. The gold is the same 14K solid gold. The IGI certification is the same independent grading. The difference is where the margin goes — and it goes to you.
